Planning a desert wedding: our checklist

A wedding arch in a desert garden, photo made with AI

Desert weddings are beautiful and a little different. Our checklist:

  • Spring and fall are the gentlest seasons; summer ceremonies work best at sunset.
  • Book a room block early so guests stay together.
  • Plan a sunset photo walk into the canyon.
  • Give guests a hot springs evening the night before.

Send us your date and we will hold it.

How to soak like a local

Hot spring pools at night, photo made with AI

Our four mineral pools run from a warm 96 °F to a hot 104 °F. Start in the warm pool, move up slowly, and soak in 15-minute spells with a cool break and a glass of water in between.

The best time? Just after sunset, when the cliffs glow and the first stars come out. Pools are open until 11 pm.

Not staying with us? A day pass is $25.

Five easy outings from Caliente

Guests always ask what there is to do between soaks. Here are our five favorites, all a short drive from the resort.

  1. Kershaw-Ryan State Park, just south of town: picnic in the shade and walk the canyon trails.
  2. Rainbow Canyon: drive south along Meadow Valley Wash between red and white cliffs.
  3. Cathedral Gorge State Park, near Panaca: wander among clay spires and narrow slot canyons.
  4. The 1923 railroad depot in the middle of Caliente.
  5. Stargazing: on a clear moonless night the Milky Way is right overhead.

Ask the front desk for a picnic lunch from the Canyon Café.
